OSWEGO, NY – Ralph B. “Rapid Ralph” Denson Jr., 82, a resident of State Route 3 in Sandy Creek, passed away Friday January 22, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Syracuse.
Ralph was born in Oswego, the son of the late Ralph and Rose (Petroski) Denson, Sr.
He was a life resident of the area.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an operating engineer, working on many area jobs.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Ralph was formerly a well-known racer at the Oswego Speedway, driving car number 67.
He was a member of the Sandy Pond Sportsmen’s Club.
He was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by three daughters, Vivian (Lester Beeler) of Kentucky, Donna Brosnan of Sandy Pond and Laura Peters of Florida; a son, Ralph Denson III of Mexico; a brother, Raymond (Chrissy) Denson of Florida; three sisters, Linda (Kenneth) Leary of Pulaski, Marilyn Alteri of Cicero and Jean Owens of Florida; his former wife, Marion Denson of Mexico; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Spring burial will be in North Volney Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
