The Central Square School District’s iconic redhawk mascot greeted every visitor at the ticket booth with hugs and high-fives, raising morale and community spirit.

Attendees walked the school’s track in honor of a cancer fighter or in memory of someone who lost the battle to cancer.

Many families and groups came with their own T-shirt designs.

One group’s camouflage design read, “The Hunt is On to Cure Cancer.” Another group’s read, “I’ve got a bone to pick with cancer!”

Tall chalkboards surrounded the track where students, parents and community members were able to write a message in support of their loved one or simply their loved one’s name.

Many walkers also purchased and decorated luminaries, white paper bags with tea lights inside, decorated in honor or memory of someone battling or who has battle cancer.

The evening concluded with a beautifully lit luminary walk.

All the proceeds of the Redhawk Relay went to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society.
