Fulton, NY – Jonathan Gilmore, coordinator of the Relatives Raising Relatives program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County has announced that Tammy DeRonde has joined the staff as an assistant. According to Gilmore, she will assist the program in a number of areas including updating participating families on the program’s events, facilitating group sessions, and coordinating correspondence between families and program staff.
No stranger to the human services field, DeRonde has several years of experience working with at-risk youth and their families in the Oswego County Youth Advocacy Program (YAP), as well MRDD patients with the Disabled Persons Action Organization in Watertown.
“I became familiar with the Relatives Raising Relatives program through my work at YAP. Relatives Raising Relatives is an excellent program that provides support to caregivers and the children. I enjoy helping others and I find it very rewarding to help them set their goals and empowering them so that they may achieve them. I am pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful program,” said DeRonde.
“Tammy is a welcome addition to our staff,” said Gilmore. “Her vast experience in the human services field and her willingness to help others will prove invaluable as she works with participants in our Relatives Raising Relatives program.”
Catholic Charities’ Relatives Raising Relatives program serves caregivers, who, through a variety of circumstances, have taken on the responsibility of raising their relative’s children.
Through educational groups and recreational outings the program provides participating families with the support they need to strengthen their family bond and provides them with the opportunity to interact with and share their experiences with other families.
