WATERTOWN, NY – Oswego native and conservative Republican Kellie Greene announced Wednesday night that she will seek the Republican nomination and ultimately the congressional seat in New York’s 23rd district. Greene made the announcement official amidst a room of supporters during a Watertown campaign kickoff event.
“We need a representative who will to stand up and fight for Northern New York,” Greene said. “The 2012 election will be a critical turning point because it will determine the fate of this Republic.”
Greene, who resides in Sackets Harbor stressed, “With unemployment unacceptably high above eight percent and so many of our fellow New Yorkers struggling through this Obama economy, we can no longer afford a Congressman and President who heaps burdens on our families and children and a imminent government seizure of healthcare that will further cripple our citizens and cost more jobs.”
She urged, “It is absolutely time for principled conservative leadership, for our district and I aim to serve that need.”
She also added a strong positive note in her announcement, “Our country certainly has serious problems, but I aspire to work hard every day to prove that I will focus on solutions and most importantly, I will not forget who I represent and serve.”
She concluded, “America’s best days are not behind us. They’re ahead of us.”
