FULTON, NY – People are hungry in Oswego County, and Oswego County Opportunities is finding ways to help.
“This year’s fund raising activities will focus on hunger needs,” said OCO Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier. “Virtually all of our programs and services, as well as our locations, encounter people on a daily basis who do not have enough to eat for themselves or their families.”
One way the communities can help is by bringing non-perishable food items to Lakeview Lanes on Route 3 West in Fulton during the OCO Retro Bowl fund raiser on Saturday.
“We’ll have several food collection boxes where people can drop off donations,” Cooper-Currier said. “We’re especially in need of single-serving foods that do not require heating to serve, or utensils.”
Those who cannot bring their items to the bowling alley on April 5 are still welcome to drop off donations:
· Main office, 239 Oneida St., Fulton, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
· Midtown Plaza office, lower level, Oswego, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
· Mexico Kitchen, Scenic Avenue, Mexico, Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
“There is a real need to help the hungry in Oswego County,” Cooper-Currier said. “As the community action agency for Oswego County, we strongly support this purpose because it aligns perfectly with OCO’s mission: to inspire partnerships and provide services that empower people, support communities and change lives.”
The 2014 OCO Retro Bowl is sponsored by “Making a Difference” Sponsor G&C Foods, and “Building Dreams” Sponsors NRG Oswego Harbor Power, LLC; Oswego County Federal Credit Union; POMCO; and the Walmart Foundation.
