OSWEGO, NY – Richard E. Bristol Jr., 63, a resident of Chestnut Street in Oswego, passed away Monday April 22, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Bristol was born in Oswego, the son of the late Richard and Helen (Matteson) Bristol.
He was a life resident.
He was a veteran of the US Army 101st Airborne Air Cavalry Squadron, and served his country in Vietnam.
He received numerous medals and awards for his service.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the VA Hospital in Syracuse.
He had also worked at Ferlito Farms in Oswego.
He is survived by four sons, Richard (Margaret) Bristol III of Oswego, Patrick Bristol of Oswego, Joseph Bristol of Syracuse and Timothy Bristol of Oswego; a daughter, Tina Hughes of Syracuse; a special cousin, Nancy Cherchio of Oswego; four sisters, Mary Wilcox of Oswego, Ida Buske of Indiana, Helen Cook of Oswego and Tamie Bristol of Oswego; seven brothers, Mark Bristol of Volney, Clark Bristol, Forest Bristol, Jeff Bristol, Stephen Bristol, Howard Bristol and Frank Bristol, all of Oswego; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mallory.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
