FULTON, NY – Richard E. “Dick” Reed, 58, of Palermo, passed away on Friday August 24, 2012, due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Palermo.
A native of Star Lake, NY, he graduated from Hermon-DeKalb Central School in DeKalb Junction, NY and from SUNY Canton.
Richard lived in Degrasse while he was employed 15 years by St. Joes Talc Mine in Edwards.
He moved to Palermo and worked at Carrier Corp. in Syracuse for 15 years and was currently working for Schneider Packaging Equipment Co. in Brewerton for the past 5 years.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Louise (Curtis) Reed; grandparents, Arthur and Aneita Curtis; and a sister, Jackie Macauly.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Sharron Parrott Reed of Palermo; step-children, Pernell Curtis of Lauder Hill, Fla., and Robin Moore of Mexico; a daughter, Rebecca Reed of Alaska; siblings, Arthur (Dymphina) Reed of Jacksonville, Fla., Anita (Jerry) Hutton of Gouverneur, Helen Gray of Miami, Okla., and Sue (Terry) Reed of Edwards; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, with graveside services 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Adnah Cemetery, 706 E. Broadway in Fulton.
Following the graveside service, a gathering will be held at the Palermo Town Park, County Route 45, Palermo.
