OSWEGO – Leading the cast of the upcoming Oswego Players’ production of “Guys and Dolls” to be staged this July in the Oswego Civic Arts Center will be Rita Warlock, who plays Adelaide.
She joins a cast of talented actors, singers and dancers in the Franck Loesser, Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows musical based on characters by Damon Runyons.
Warlock is a three-time SALT Award Nominee, and received the 2013 SALT Peoples Choir Award for Actress of the Year.
Her credits include more than 50 theatrical productions, solo performances with the SSO and SSO Pops Chorus, the Syracuse Chorale, The Syracuse Chamber Singers and the 2nd Season of DWTS in Syracuse.
She had taught vocal instruction and vocal performance.
Warlock can be seen in the Prince MTV/VH-1 video “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.”
She performed last year with the Oswego Players in “Gypsy.”
A graduate of SUNY Empire College, she is currently a graduate student at the David B. Falk School of Sport and Human Dynamics at Syracuse University pursuing an MSW/MFT/CAS in Social Work, Addiction/Trauma/Conflict Resolution.
She is also a Reiki I Practitioner working toward levels 2-4 to become a Master Practitioner.
Other cast members include Knate MacKenzie-Roy, Michael LeBarbera, Callie Gross, Ed Lewis, Nic MacLane, Patrick Carman, Mike Bokio, Marsha Preston, Erin Chetney, Emily Yamada, Tammy Wilkinson, Stephanie Johnson, Leah Mullen, Mike Moss, Nelson Metz, Tom Montague, Austin Clark and Norman Berlin III.
Music director for the show is Abel Searor. Choreographer is Stephfond Brunson. Stage manager is Norman Berlin III and costumier is Marie Sterphone.
“Guys and Dolls,” a musical fable of Broadway, is based on the stories and characters of Damon Runyon with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows is presented through special arrangements with Music Theater International.
This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by CNY Arts.
“Guys and Dolls” will be performed in the Frances Marion Brown Theater of the Oswego Civic Arts Center on July 3, 4, 10, 11 at 8 p.m. and July 12 at 2 p.m.
