Cronk was passing by the residence of James Hull on County Route 7 in the Town of Oswego when he noticed smoke coming from the house.

Upon making this discovery, Cronk stopped his vehicle, got out and went to investigate further.

Cronk heard moaning coming from inside the residence; and despite large amounts of smoke, he entered the residence and assisted the homeowner in getting out of the house and away from the fire.
