Robert F. Pendergast, 96, former Oneida River Rd., Pennellville resident, passed away at Sunrise Nursing Home, Oswego on Thursday June 9, 2011.
Born in Syracuse to his late parents, John F. and Ethel Mae (Allard) Pendergast on June 16, 1914. He was a graduate of Valley Academy School. Mr. Pendergast was a former owner/operator of the Pendergast Grocery Store in the Belgium hamlet, Clay, and the Oneida River Tavern, Pennellville.
Surviving are his loving wife of 72 years, the former Mary L. Stevens of Oswego; one son William R. (Judy A.) Pendergast of Pennellville; three daughters, Barbara (Lloyd) Barbur of Richland, Janet Loveless of Fulton, Carole J. (Fred) Gaylord of Clay; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one niece.
Services are on Monday June 13, at 2 pm in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY 13135, with the Rev. Diane Bradshaw officiating. Burial in Pine Plains Cemetery, 8686 Henry Clay Blvd., Clay, NY 13041. Calling hours are prior to the service from 11 to 2 pm in the funeral home.
