OSWEGO, NY – Robert Frederick Baker, 85, a resident of Oswego Town, passed away Wednesday October 2, 2013, at home.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Jesse and Emma (Sill) Baker.
Robert was an auto mechanic most of his life. He learned as a young boy from his uncle, Bill Sill.
He worked for Frank Shaw and Bud Thallmann and started his own business at home at 240 Murray St.
He retired in 1990 and moved into his beloved camp in Brantingham, NY.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, to which he taught his wife, sons, and daughter.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Josephine (Natoli) Baker; two sons, Robert (Lynda) Baker and William (Irene) Baker; one daughter, Bonnie (Russell) Keene; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Baker.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald Baker; and great-grandson, Joseph McCarthy.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
Calling hours will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Nelson Funeral Home.
