Robert L. Phillips Sr., 83 of Eisenhower Avenue Oswego died Saturday August 13th at St. Luke Health. He was the husband of the late Jean A Phillips who died in October 2006.
Born in Oswego he was the son of the late Albert and Sophie (Buske) Phillips.
He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion.
Mr Phillips was an electrician and member of I.B.E.W. local 328. He worked at the Fitzpatrick Power Plant, Nine Mile Units 1 and 2 the Oswego Steam Station.
Robert enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and he especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a Ham operator.
He is a member of the Elim Grace Church, the Oswego Drum and Bugle Corps and Smithy’s Sunoco Band of Mexico.
Surviving are his three daughters, Nancy (Thomas) Bendzunas of Alton, IL, Patricia (Tony) Peralta of Oswego and Mary Irizarry of Oswego; two sons, Robert (Donna) Phillips Jr. of Pulaski and Lawrence (Kathy) Phillips of Oswego; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his Wife, Jean (Hare) Phillips; and his brother, Arthur A. Phillips.
Calling hours will be 4-7pm Tuesday, August 16, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St, Oswego.
Services will be held 10am Wednesday, August 17 at the Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
