Robert L. Sibley, Sr., 76, of Rome, passed away Friday at his daughter’s home.
He was born in Fulton and lived most of his life in Vernon.
Bob was a self-employed contractor and trained harness horses. He served in the Air Force during the 1950’s.
Bob was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Sinnott Sibley, who died August 26, 1991, two sisters, Doris Delmedico in 2010 and Sylvia Liberato in 2007; two brothers, Roy Sibley, Jr. and Gilbert Sibley.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Janet Lee Dunning Sibley; seven children, Robert L. Sibley, Jr. of East Helena, MN, Patricia A. (Richard) L’Hommedieu of Trenton, FL, Kevin (Dawn) Sibley of Rome, NY, Martin D. (Michiko) Sibley of Albuquerque, NM, Daniel J. Sibley of Syracuse, Jamie (David) Dye of Hannibal and Bonnie (William) Tyrell of Elbridge; two sisters, Vest (Richard) Weilgosz of Marcy, NY and Ruth Snyder of New Hartford, NY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Robert’s family would like to thank Dr. Poonati and his staff along with Oswego County Hospice for the exceptional care that was given to Robert and his family during this most difficult time.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Bible Baptist Church, 585 West Main St., Elbridge. Contributions in memory of Mr. Sibley may be made to the Calvary Bible Baptist Church. Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal has care of arrangements.
