OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego state women’s basketball team fell 82-59 to Rochester on Tuesday evening at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
Oswego moves to 1-2 on the season while the Yellowjackets improve to 5-0.
Despite the loss, Oswego’s Mary Mazzella had an impressive outing, leading the team in both points and assists, with 16 and five, respectively.
The sophomore was solid from the charity stripe all night long, shooting 85.7% (6-for-7).
Teammate Rachael Windhausen got off to a fast start, scoring six of the Lakers’ first eight points of the game.
The 6-foot-2 forward recorded her first double-double on the young season just five minutes into the second half, closing with 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. The freshman also added two blocks to her stat line.
Oswego did hold an edge on the defensive boards, 32-27 over Rochester.
The women’s squad will travel for its next bout at 7 p.m. on Tuesday against Houghton.
