Roger ‘Jim’ VanBuren


OSWEGO, NY – Roger “Jim” VanBuren, 69, of Porter Street, Oswego, passed away Thursday December 6, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Walter Newton and Elmetta (Wallace) VanBuren.

Roger was a self-employed laborer in Oswego.

Surviving are his wife, Donnajean (Weldin); his children, Brett Fredette of Gulf Breeze, Fla., James VanBuren of Oswego, Amy VanBuren of Oswego, Hope McClemons of Lacona, Michael Nelson of Fulton and Brandon Nelson of Oswego; a sister, Rosemond Lamb of Ontario, NY; two brothers, Mike VanBuren and James Bogardus, both of Fulton; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; three sisters; and a brother.

Services will be held privately.

Donations can be made to the American Lung Association.

    To Hope and family sorry for your loss … I knew Jim for many years and he was a great man … RIP Jim …

    Jim was a fellow classmate in 1963 class at Hannibal. We were good friends who lost touch after high school. I am saddened we didn’t get together more. I think Jim was 67?
