Rosario Joseph Vescio Sr., 83

Rosario Joseph Vescio Sr., 83, of Minetto died Wednesday at Strong Memorial Hospital due to injuries from an automobile accident.

He was born in Fulton the son of the late Peter and Margaret (Malambri) Vescio. Mr. Vescio has been a resident of Minetto for the past forty-six years. He retired from the Oswego City School District after several years of service.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Vescio was past Commander of the VFW Post 2320, Oswego, and Past President of the Oswego Moose Lodge.

He was the Cub Scout Master in Fulton for eighteen years and two years in Minetto, in addition he was Scout Master for eighteen years for Fulton. Mr. Vescio enjoyed working in his garden, and he was a member of the St. Rocco’s Society.

He was predeceased by his daughter Gail Vescio Weegar, son R. Joseph Vescio, his brothers Vincent and Andrew Vescio, and sister Angie Knight.

Mr. Vescio is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Theresa Vescio of Minetto son Vincent (Angie Powell) Vescio of Pittsburgh, PA, grandchildren Daniel (Tara) Weegar, Robert Weegar, Jill Miller, and Bianca (Ryan) Kress, six great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be Tuesday 6:00 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego. Burial will be Thursday 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home 147 West Fourth Street Oswego.

Dear Vescio family, Warm thoughts and prayers from our family to yours, we are so sorry to here of your loss ours prayers are with you at this time. i always remember the times that you and joe sat around at our home when we were children to have coffee with my parents. Your family was always there. May god watch over you as you grieve your loved one and help you day to day to enjoy life and the memories that you had with Joe i know our family will. God Bless

  3. I remember as a kid Staying at His house. His son Joe was my best friend.Joe sr would teach me how to play the Piano, Base Fiddle, violin, and others.This family was one with great morels and lived life while demonstrating honesty, integrety,and kindness. They wre always there for the Vescio family to comfort and console at times of need. God will have a place ready for all of them to be togrther in the new life when called.
