OSWEGO, NY – Rose Falanga Duca, 83, of Oswego died Saturday March 24, 2012, unexpectedly at her home after a brief illness.

Mrs. Duca was born in Oswego the daughter of the late Thomas and Grace (Spano) Falanga.

Mrs Duca graduated in 1943 from Fitzhugh Park School and in 1946 from Oswego High School.

She attended Crouse Irving School of Nursing where she earned her degree as a licensed registered nurse, and was employed at Crouse Irving Hospital, Oswego Hospital and the office of Dr. Samuel E. Tripp MD.

Mrs. Duca was a member of St. Joseph Golden Age, St. Anne’s Society, the American Italian Heritage Foundation, Crouse Irving Hospital Alumnae Association, and Friends of Fort Ontario.

She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Duca, on July 22, 2003.

Mrs. Duca is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Richard) Hilton of Oswego; her granddaughters, Dr. Nicole (Jared) Cestaro of Clay and Elizabeth (fiancé John Komuda) Hilton of Oswego; sisters, Antoinette (Grover) Wilson, of Georgia and Marguerite (Robert) McCausland of Virginia.

Rose’s greatest gift was her endless love and dedication for her family and friends especially her granddaughters, Nicole and Elizabeth and her best friends, Dolores and Marie.

Funeral services will be Saturday 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church.

Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum.

Calling hours will be Friday 4 – 7 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.

Fueled by her incessant high spiritedness, Rose captured every moment and embraced life to the fullest.

Rose’s radiance, beauty and gentle spirit touched all who knew her.

Contributions can be made to the Trinity Catholic School , Oswego.

    My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. I met Rose about a year ago and we just got along right away. I was glade to had the chance to have known her. She was a wonerful person and very caring lady. I will miss her so much. My prays and thoughts go out to the family.
