She addressed attendees on matters related to Fort Ontario but specifically about a former Fort Ontario Army soldier named Ludwig Bemelmans.

Bemelmans is most well-known as the creator of “Madeline” of the Madeline children’s book series.

Bemelmans was stationed at the Fort during World War I, which was then the site for one of the largest Army hospitals in the northeast.

Emmons has done extensive research on this Fort Ontario soldier, his life history and how he came to Oswego, going to become a author loved by many.
