FULTON – At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Dan Farfaglia, right, introduced Garret Turtura, director of Hillside Children’s Center in Fulton.
Turtura explained that they have a contract will DSS to institute the highest level of intervention that can be provided in the community setting.
The next step would be out of home placement.
Children are referred for problem behaviors as a result of abuse, neglect and assault among others.
Success has been accomplished by focusing on strengths and building skills.
Turtura said, “When we open a case our goal is to always close; therefore we do not do the work for the families but rather we help them to identify helpful strategies that could, not only be used in this instance, but in many others in the future.”
Families and youth must be referred from DSS.
