She spoke about the Honor Flight, where she is a very active volunteer.

She told us about the sights and sounds provided for the veterans who go on this memorable trip to Washington DC.

The last trip was this past October where 80 vets participated, many over 90.

Vets have to be screened for health issues when applying.

A friend or family member must accompany each veteran.

Medical personnel (volunteers) are on hand at all times.

Scanlon-Ludwigsen said the bands, flags, applause, national police escort, bag pipers and the visits to all the monuments, Arlington Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and The Pentagon are an amazing experience for the veterans.

The trip leaves out of Syracuse every spring and fall and the next tour will be in April 2016.

The Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7 a.m. at Mimi’s in Fulton.
