FULTON, NY – Fulton Rotarian Bridgette Seguin introduced Martha Murray at a recent Rotary Club meeting.
Martha is on the board of the St. Francis Social Adult Day Care Center in Syracuse.
The facility is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities.
The center provides compassionate service to elders in a respectful and joyful environment.
Many of the elders that participate have some form of dementia.
It is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The program is designed for elders and their caregivers.
For elders it provides social stimulation in a safe environment.
For caregivers it is a respite for caregiving in order to have time for self or to fulfill personal or family responsibilities.
The center has been open more than 20 years and provides a full lunch.
There is financial assistance from the Department of Aging and Youth, the Veterans Administration, Visiting Nurse Association and PACE.
