Bemelmans, the author of the “Madeline” series of children’s books, was stationed at Fort Ontario in 1917 during World War I.

Sivers’ play is a look into the daily life of Bemelmans in the summer and fall of 1917 at Fort Ontario.

The play is being presented as part of the Bemelmans Festival, which began on May 12 and will continue until May 21.

Sivers’ work will be performed in the Frances Marion Brown Theater in the Oswego Civic Arts Center at 8 p.m. May 19 and 20, and at 2 p.m. on May 21.
