The Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club recently welcomed Oswego Police Chief Tory DeCaire.
Chief DeCaire discussed the department’s core principles of professionalism, integrity and accountability in the context of the department’s commitment to protect, serve, educate and enhance the quality of life for Oswego’s residents.
Chief DeCaire also discussed the department’s focus on community-oriented policing, as well as the recent decision to bring the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program back to Oswego schools.
DeCaire explained that the D.A.R.E. curriculum has changed from an ineffective program focused on an anti-drug message, to a research-based program that focuses on elementary and middle school students’ decisions, which will help in the development of skills that extend beyond drugs to healthy and mature choices in life.
