OSWEGO – Oswego Rotary Club member David Granoff spoke to club members recently about the Rotary International Foundation.
The RI Foundation is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
The foundation has been helping provide humanitarian aid to millions of individuals around the world.
From its first contribution of $26.50 almost a century ago, the Rotary Foundation’s assets have grown to approximately $1 billion, and more than $3 billion have been spent on projects that promote disease prevention, education and literacy, peace and conflict prevention, water and sanitation, and economic and community development.
Donations in the form of monetary support have been enhanced by various contributors, including Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, but the bulk of the foundation’s funding comes from generous contributions made by individual Rotarians in towns and cities across American and around the world.
The Oswego Rotary Club continues to be recognized for its contributions to the foundation and once again this year the club was awarded EREY designation (Every Rotarian Every Year) by Rotary International for its 100% member donation to the foundation.
