RSVP Director To Visit OCO Dining Centers Next Month


OSWEGO – Ellen Wahl, director of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, will be visiting Oswego County Opportunities’ dining centers during the month of November.

The purpose for the visits is to introduce prospective volunteers to a broad spectrum of volunteer opportunities offered through RSVP.

Discussions begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon.

To reserve a seat, call a site manager at the OCO Dining Center of your choice.

Lunch is optional.

If you are wondering, “What is there to do?” or feel that you want to give back to the community, but don’t know where to turn, this session may be for you.

Individuals will have the chance to meet informally with Wahl and with Chris Parks, OCO volunteer manager.

RSVP partners with OCO to recruit volunteers for some of its programs, such as Literacy Volunteers and Meals on Wheels.

RSVP collaborates with more than 100 programs in Oswego County, including OCO, to provide volunteer opportunities that engage the lives of Americans 55-plus, while responding to the priority needs of the community.

For instance, volunteers serve as tax aides, exercise leaders and environmental stewards.

RSVP is part of a nationwide network of Senior Corps programs, sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Oswego County RSVP is sponsored locally by SUNY Oswego and the United Way.

RSVP offers Mature Living, a bimonthly newsletter with news and information that is both national and local in scope and of interest to older Americans.
