RSVP has a long-standing history of providing volunteers to operate the tourist center from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Under the direction of Tourist Center Coordinator Arlene Johnson, RSVP volunteers staff the center daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

To volunteer for a morning or afternoon shift, prospective volunteers may visit Johnson during her shift on Friday afternoons, or call RSVP telephone coordinator Joan Osypiewski at 343-8551 to inquire about openings.

Volunteers are always able to choose their shifts.

Better known as “Goodwill Ambassadors,” the volunteers greet visitors, provide literature and brochures, directions and good ole Oswego County hospitality to all who stop.

RSVP volunteers provide a much-needed service (at no cost) to the county and also help to sustain the local tourism industry.

RSVP is a federal initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service and is sponsored locally by SUNY Oswego and the United Way.
