OSWEGO, NY – One of the most welcome signs of spring around Oswego is the reopening of Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-in.
For those who would like to have a preview, Rudy’s will be serving the next Salvation Army Guest Chef dinner on March 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The dinner will offer some of Rudy’s popular sea foods, including clams, scallops, fish and desserts and beverages will be provided by members of the Advisory Board.
The dinner will be at the Salvation Army Citadel, 73 W. Second St.
The Guest Chef dinners are organized by the Advisory Board and offered to the community to raise funds forsupport of the services of the Army in Oswego County.
Rudy’s is one of Oswego’s most unique and popular summer eating places, known for its efficient service and a great variety of fun foods cooked to order while you watch.
It has been operated by the same family since 1946, with members of the fourth generation now on staff.
They handpick their fresh produce at Ontario Orchards and their meat has been provided by Bosco & Geers for the past six decades.
They use only the highest grade A select fish and scallops.
Fish arrives daily and is prepared by hand in their own kitchens.
In a typical week they use 200 gallons of ketchup, cook 2,000 pounds of fish, and their used cooking oil is recycled into bio-diesel fuel.
The Oswego County Salvation Army Corps is in its first year of service, having been formed through the joining of the former Fulton and Oswego Corps and several service units in other parts of the county.
Fresh-cooked meals are served in both Fulton and Oswego and many other services are
provided to individuals and families in need throughout Oswego County.
Information about The Salvation Army or about serving as a volunteer is available at 343-6491 or at the office at 73 W. Second St.
