OSWEGO – Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-in will launch the 2015 edition of the Oswego County Salvation Army’s Guest Chef Dinners with a sampling of their favorite foods on March 18, with dining room and takeout service from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The meal will include some of Rudy’s popular sea foods and summer fare, including clams, fish, coleslaw, salt potatoes, and macaroni salad, along with desserts and beverages provided by members of the advisory board.
The dinner will be at the Salvation Army Center for Worship and Service, 73 W. Second St.
Students of the Mexico Academy and Central School Junior ROTC under the command of Lt. Col. John Freda, will return for the second year to serve dining room guests.
The purpose of Marine Corps Junior ROTC is to instruct students in leadership and military history and prepare them to lead other students through conduct of drill and uniform inspections.
Future Guest Chef Dinners this year will be provided through the generosity of the following: The American Foundry, April 7; Vona’s Restaurant, June 2; Zonta Club of Oswego (roast beef), September 15; Canale’s Restaurant, October 6; and Jimmie James BBQ (chicken barbecue), November 3.
Rudy’s is one of Oswego’s most unique and popular summer eating places, known for its efficient service and a great variety of fun foods cooked to order while you watch.
It has been operated by the same family since 1946, with members of the fourth generation now on staff. Rudy’s Lakeside Restaurant will open for the season on March 25.
The Guest Chef Dinners are organized by the advisory board and offered to the community to raise funds for fresh-cooked meals in both Fulton and Oswego and other services that are provided to individuals and families in need throughout Oswego County.
