Rural Health Network To Host Senior Health Fair


FULTON, NY – Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Rural Health Network of Oswego County and New York State Senator Darrel Aubertine’s office, Oswego County seniors will have the opportunity to learn more about the many services and programs available in Oswego County that are designed specifically to benefit them.

Scheduled for Oct. 13, the Senior Health and Information Fair will be held at the Fulton War Memorial, Route 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to Danielle Wert, coordinator of the Rural Health Network of Oswego County, it is a must-attend event for seniors as well as those who care for seniors.

“We have put together an exciting event that will not only provide seniors with valuable information, but will entertain them as well. We want to make sure that our seniors are aware of the wide variety of resources that are easily accessible and can provide them with the types of services they need to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle,” said Wert.

More than 40 vendors representing a diverse cross-section of services such as nutritional, medical, residential, insurance and many more will be on hand to greet seniors and share with them vital information about their services and programs.

In addition the event will also feature a special presentation by Dr. Kittur from the Neurological Care of CNY office on dementia-related illnesses.

Entertainment will include a performance by members of The Cayuga Cutups and Fulton Shirts & Skirts along with a square dancing demonstration / instructional session.

Oswego County Opportunities’ Senior Nutrition Services kitchen will provide lunch, compliments of the Rural Health Network of Oswego County and Senator Aubertine’s office.

OCO’s Transportation Department will also be providing free transportation from several of OCO’s Senior Activity and Dining sites throughout Oswego County.

“It’s going to be a great event and I encourage all of our seniors and those that care for seniors to attend the Senior Health and Information Fair,” added Wert.

Operating under the auspices of Oswego County Opportunities, Inc., the Rural Health Network of Oswego County is a consortium of health care providers and human service providers in Oswego County.

The members take a collaborative approach to addressing major health issues that exist in Oswego County.
