Ruth L. Bishop Vandegrift, 87, a resident of 7449 St. Rt. 104 West, Town of Oswego, passed away May 31, 2008 at St. JosephÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s Hospital, Syracuse.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Louise (Buske) Bishop.
She was a graduate of Oswego High School.
Ruth retired after 25 years as buyers and clerk at CampbellÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s Department store in Oswego, and also worked at the Oswego Armory, Secretary and receptionist at the Fitzgibbons Boiler Co., and Hotel Pontiac in Oswego.
She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed the outdoors, crafts and spending with her family.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas B. Vandegrift and Bayard A. ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œBuzzÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â Vandegrift III, both of Oswego; two grandchildren, Darlene L. Vandegrift of Miami, Florida; and Bayard A. Vandegrift IV of Richmond, VA; a great-grandson Joshua Vandegrift.
She was predeceased by her husband Bayard A. Vandegrift Jr. on August 13, 1993.
Funeral Services will be held 11a.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 4-7p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
