SAF Promotes White Ribbon Campaign


OSWEGO, NY- Representatives from Oswego County Opportunities’ Services to Aid Families program, were on hand at the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival recently to promote the services offered through SAF and raise awareness about domestic violence in Oswego County.

Shelly Pray and Dan Arnold of Oswego County Opportunities’ Services to Aid Families program recently participated in some community outreach at the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival in Oswego. They promoted the services offered through the SAF program and sold ribbons in support of the program’s White Ribbon Campaign to raise awareness of domestic violence in Oswego County.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the White Ribbon Campaign is used to generate community support in ending violence against women.

SAF is the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center for Oswego County and is currently a county representative for the NYS Office of Victim Services.

SAF can provide support and assistance to individuals interested in filing for OVS compensation, which may reimburse victims for medical bills, lost wages or funeral expenses.

The SAF Program operates the domestic violence shelter and offers crisis intervention, supportive counseling, medical and legal advocacy and accompaniments, and prevention and education programs.
