The Safe Haven Museum and Education Center has announced that the museum is now open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Tuesday through Sunday. This is the official start of the summer season at Safe Haven, which is located on 2 East Seventh St. in Oswego, right across from the community pool and only a short distance away from Fort Ontario.
AmeriCorps member Ryan Bergman, who works at the museum through the Oswego County AmeriCorps program said, “The great thing about this location is that it’s the most recent of the historical sites in town. It is also one of a kind; this location was the only spot in the country where refugees were taken in from WWII Europe. It is a case of it being their story, but our history.â€
