OSWEGO, NY – The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign is in the homestretch as Christmas approaches.
The kettle campaign ends on Christmas Eve.
“As people hurry to purchase last-minute gifts, decorate the tree and plan Christmas dinner menus, we hope many will continue to donate to the Red Kettle as they shop around their community,” said Major Donald Hostetler, Divisional Commander of the Empire State Division of The Salvation Army, which covers all of upstate New York.
The red kettles are the most visible of their fundraisers, The Salvation Army relies on money raised in the red kettles to support social service programs year-round.
All donations received in the kettles stay in the communities where the contributions are made to assist the local residents in need.
“With unemployment still high in many areas of New York State, we are seeing families and individuals who volunteered and supported us in prior years now needing our help.
With statewide partners such as Walmart, Price Chopper and Tops, we are able to have kettles in almost every upstate community. The funds collected help those in need in that community. Whatever amount people put into our Red Kettles, it is making change happen in the lives of others. We do the most good by using our resources to create positive, long-lasting changes in the lives of people when it is needed the most.” Major Hostetler said.
Red Kettle funds support ongoing programs to shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, provide aid for disaster survivors, youth and seniors and much more.
