PHOENIX, NY – SAM North America LLC, a member of the Sung An Machinery Group of South Korea, held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Extrusion Technology Center at its new facility in the Oswego County Industrial Park in the town of Schroeppel on January 21.
The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony allowed local, regional and state government officials, key suppliers, and industrial park neighbors to visit the new Extrusion Technology Center to better understand the center’s capabilities.
SAM’s multimillion dollar investment included the acquisition of the 10,000 square foot building, building renovations, and a new extrusion coating / lamination / cast film pilot machine that will bring new employment opportunities to Central New York.
For more than 50 years, SAM has been a leading supplier of converting machinery for package printing, specialty coating, extrusion coating and laminating.
The Extrusion Technology Center puts the latest technology for extrusion coating and laminating into service for the development and evaluation of materials and process techniques to improve the functionality of flexible packaging and industrial coated and laminated products.
Sung An Machinery Co., Ltd. (SAM) designs and manufactures an extensive range of machinery and accessories for the printing and converting industry for the converting of paper, film and foil. The portfolio of products includes extrusion, aqueous, solvent based and solvent-less laminating machines, coating and lacquering machines, rotogravure printing machines and flotation dryers. These technically advanced machines guarantee to deliver high productivity and a quick return on investment contributed from unique features and low-waste operation.
Assistance was provided to the company by Operation Oswego County, Inc., that sold them the former Oswego County Start-Up Facility and 2.5 acres in the Oswego County Industrial Park to allow the company to establish its North American headquarters in Oswego County. Financial assistance was provided by Key Bank, OOCI and the County of Oswego IDA.
The company also received excellent support and assistance from the town of Schroeppel, National Grid and from a host of local contractors.
The company projects that it will employ 14 at the new location.
