Samuel Curcuruto, 94, of Volney, died September 7, 2010.

Born in New York City, Sam moved to Volney when he was five years old. He owned and operated a produce farm in Volney most of his life. He had also worked as a U.S. Mail Rural Carrier and for Ontario & Western Railroad. Sam was a member and former chairman of Oswego County Vegetable Growers Association and Oswego County Co-Operative Extension. Sam was with the Farm Home Administration for 13 years and 24 years on the Town of Volney Zoning Board of Appeals.

He was a life member of the Phoenix Rod and Gun Club and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a former member of the Fulton Men’s Chorus. Sam was predeceased by his longtime companion, Eleanor Wright.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, Rosa (Richard) Kemmis, Sal (Rosalie) Pappalardo, Leo (Wanda) Pappalardo and JoAnn (Robert) Natoli; several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, State Route 48, Minetto with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

  1. Mr. Curcuruto was long time friends with my grandfather Bushy Lagodich. I remember him and my grandpa drinking Genny beer when he came to visit.
