In the Sandy Creek Central School District, elementary school children recently learned lessons about generosity and giving to others as they perused the Santa Shop.

The shop had plenty of gifts for the children to buy for their parents, siblings and other family members.

Students browsed the gifts on display, which included hats, action figures, wallets, toys and a variety of other items.

After selecting the gifts, students used their math skills to determine the total amount due.

According to Judy Allen, a district employee who helps coordinate the Santa Shop each year, the shop provides students with an opportunity to learn about the act of giving.

In that same vein, she noted that Sandy Creek High School’s National Honor Society students gave their time to volunteer and help the younger students as they checked items off their list.
