A donation from a local business owner helped bring extra holiday cheer into the art room at Sandy Creek Elementary School recently, as students were able to create ornaments.
The ornaments were donated by Don Allen, owner of Stone Cold Creations and given to pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students in art class.
Students selected different ornament shapes such as trains, gingerbread houses, snowmen, angels and Santa, then they dipped their paintbrushes into the paint and went to work.
Students giggled with excitement as they saw their custom-made ornaments come together.
They hoisted their creations and shared their projects with one another as each one was unique.
“They have been very excited to make their own ornaments,” said art teacher Tara Abbott. “It’s really special to share in their excitement. A lot of them have never done anything like this before.”
The project would not have been possible without the donation from Allen and his business, which was “a tremendous gesture,” according to Sandy Creek Elementary School Principal Sue Ann Archibee. “He really deserves some recognition. It was a wonderful act of kindness, and the ornaments are something that the kids and their parents will have forever.”
