School Districts Distribute School Supplies

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego County students in need of school supplies will find it easier to get ready for school thanks to the United Way’s Success By 6 “Stuff-A-Bus” campaign.

The “Stuff-A-Bus” campaign, which began in June and culminated on Aug. 14, was initiated to collect school supplies for children in need throughout Oswego County so that they would have the supplies they need to begin the new school year.

The United Way and Success By 6 solicited area businesses and individuals and arranged for twelve buses to be located throughout Oswego County where people were able to donate school supplies.

Bonnie Holmes, director of Success By 6, said that the “Stuff-A-Bus” campaign collected a large selection of school supplies as well as some monetary donations.

“We had a wonderful response to our “Stuff-A-Bus” campaign. Everyone was very receptive to the campaign and the generous donations that we received will go a long way in making sure that children in need in Oswego County will have the supplies they need to successfully begin the new school year,” she said.

Volunteers from the Oswego County Teachers Association and United Way Success By 6 staff sorted and distributed the school supplies in each of Oswego County’s school districts to children who attended the distribution with their parents or guardians.

Holmes added that Success By 6 is still accepting donations, as school supplies will be made available to teachers to give to students in their classes whose families would find it challenging to purchase the supplies that the child needs.

Cheers for these people and what they do.
    Jeers for our terrible governor.
I’d usually like to donate to something like this but looks like the choice was taken out of my hands — David Patterson decided it for us!!
What will the parents now be spending their $200/child on?
