OSWEGO, NY – William Scriber the Facility Security Officer and Manager of Administrative Services for the Port of Oswego Authority has been appointed the chairman of the Eastern Great Lakes Area Maritime Security Committee starting January 1, 2013, by Captain S. M. Wischmann, U.S. Coast Guard Federal Maritime Security Coordinator.
The committee is made up of ports and regulated facilities on the great lakes and is responsible for identifying critical port infrastructure and operations, identifying risks and vulnerabilities, determining strategies and implementation methods for mitigation and advising and assisting the Captain of the Port in developing, reviewing, and updating the Area Maritime Security Plan.
In the appointment letter the Captain of the Port (Sector Buffalo) outlined his appointment decision in saying, “It is a great pleasure to appoint you to serve as Chair, Eastern Great Lakes Area Maritime Security (AMS) Sub-Committee and the Executive Steering Sub-Committee, Lake Ontario Region, for a five-year term ending in 2018. This selection is based upon your skills, experience and expertise in the maritime field. Your service is vital to the safety and security of our Nation’s Maritime Transportation System.”
