At 8:01 a.m. today, James E. Hammond, 72, of 356 CR 29, Oswego, was operating a 2012 Polaris 4-wheeler on his property approximately 100 feet east of the roadway when he reportedly struck a knoll in the yard.
Reportedly, the ATV went up in the air, throwing the operator off.
The ATV landed on Mr. Hammond’s chest and continued to roll before coming to a stop overturned.
Mr. Hammond was transported by ambulance to an awaiting Mercy Flight helicopter and subsequently airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

SCRIBA, NY – One person was seriously injured in an ATV accident this morning (Oct. 22).
The crash reportedly happened at 356 County Route 29, just south of the County Route 51A intersection.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m.
Mercy Flight is en route to transport the victim to a hospital.
