OSWEGO, NY – The Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County received some much needed support recently for its upcoming 5th Annual “Blue Ribbon Ride” Against Child Abuse.

Part of the CAC’s Blue Ribbon Campaign that focuses on awareness and prevention of child abuse in Oswego County, the ‘Blue Ribbon Ride’ is an 80-mile ride that will wind throughout Oswego County.

Scheduled for Aug. 16, the ride will start and end at Sweet Inspirations Drive-In on Route 3 in Fulton.

According to committee members the CAC’s ‘Blue Ribbon Ride’ is the only charity ride that tours Oswego County exclusively, and raises funds for an agency that serves so many children in the county.

CAC has partnered with many local businesses to get the word out about child abuse and to help raise greatly needed funds to help them continue their efforts to address and prevent child abuse in Oswego County.

The CAC is a non-profit organization that works hand-in-hand with local law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, medical providers, therapy providers, and victim advocacy professionals in Oswego County to protect and serve over 150 child victims of sexual and physical abuse each year.

“We are very appreciative of the support we receive from the Oswego County Sheriffs Department,” said Olivia VanSanford, director of the CAC.  “In addition to their monetary support several members take part in the ride while others serve as escorts for our bikers during the ride.”

Motorcycle drivers interested in participating in the ride will receive a free T-shirt if they register prior to Aug. 1.

Drivers and riders will also be able to register the day of the event as well.  A $30 donation per driver and a $20 donation per passenger are requested.

Riders will ride for free if they obtain $100 or more in donations.

Proceeds will benefit the CAC’s Blue Ribbon Campaign.  Day of registration will begin at 10 a.m. with the ride beginning at noon.

Raffles and door prizes will again be a fun part of the day with a chicken barbecue at Sweet Inspirations Drive-In following the ride.

This is a rain or shine event.
