Sheriff’s Deputies Investigating Two-Vehicle MVA

OSWEGO, NY – On Dec. 14, members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Menters Ambulance Service and the Phoenix Fire Department responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident of County Route 12 in the town of Schroeppel.

The investigation revealed a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta operated by 16-year-old Joseph M. Rinaldi was traveling eastbound on Route 12; there were two passengers in Joseph’s car.

Joseph was traveling over the posted speed limit, deputies said, and then lost control of his car when he struck a westbound Jeep operated by the lone occupant, Richard Ennis.

Joseph them continued out of control, crossed the westbound lane of Route 12 then continued down an earth embankment then into a tree before coming to rest on the north side of Route 12.

Joseph was ejected from the car and his passengers had to be extricated by the Phoenix Fire Department.

All occupants of his car were transported to University Hospital, Syracuse, with non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
