Sheriff’s Office Recovers Vehicle From Oswego River

OSWEGO, NY – On Wednesday (July 2), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office recovered a 1988 Volvo station wagon from the Oswego River north of Lock 5 in Minetto.

A sonar company hired by the NYS Canal Corporation had discovered the vehicle.

Further investigation found it had been reported stolen to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office in 1996.

It is believed the vehicle was intentionally disposed of, appearing to have been in the water for a very long time.

The Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Division and dive team were involved in the recovery of the vehicle, with members of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office present during the recovery.
