Sheriff’s Office To Hold Public Safety Day Aug. 29

OSWEGO – The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office will hold a Public Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 29, at the Oswego County Highway Garage on Schaad Drive, just off Route 104 East in Scriba.

The event will feature children’s games and prizes, a bike giveaway and bike rodeo, free child ID cards, free car seat checks, and information on a variety of local services such as bicycle safety, search and rescue operations, and several other community programs.

Free hotdogs and refreshments will be served. McGruff, the Crime Dog will make a special appearance. A number of law enforcement and emergency response vehicles, including police cars, ATVs, boats, and fire trucks will be displayed.

Sheriff Reuel Todd, Undersheriff Eugene Sullivan, and Legislator Linda Lockwood, District 11, chair of the County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee, are scheduled to visit the event.

A special thanks goes to Kurt Ospelt, Oswego County Superintendent of Public Works, for assistance in hosting the event. Participating agencies include Oswego County Department of Public Works, Doyle’s Bike Shop, US Coast Guard, Oswego County Emergency Management Office, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Oswego County Health Department, Scriba Fire Department, US Border Patrol, NYS Park Police, Stop DWI, US Army Recruiter’s Office, and Oswego County Search and Rescue.
