Shirley A. Hammond, 72


Oswego – Shirley A. Hammond, 72, a resident of 131 W. First St., in Oswego, passed away Wednesday February 8, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.

Mrs. Hammond was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late James and Helen (Schaffer) Fantom.

She was a life resident of the area.

She had formerly been employed as a salesperson at Barry’s Clothing Store in downtown Oswego.

Mrs. Hammond  loved to play bingo, and was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Denise (Brian Wallis) Conzone of Sandy Creek; a son, Jack R. Hammond Jr. of Oswego; two brothers, Jimmy Fantom of Oswego and Thomas (Sheila) Fantom of Oswego; two sisters, Katie Haynes of Oswego and Peggy (Robert) Smith of Oswego; three grandchildren, Nicole, Shane and Jack; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Michael Hammond, who died in 1976; a brother, Bobby Fantom; and a sister, Liz Sharkey.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

 A calling hour will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., in Oswego.
