Skate Bike Ride Winners Announced

OSWEGO, NY – Local youngsters learned safety tips they’ll use while skateboarding and bike riding during Oswego Health’s recent Skate Bike Ride event.

Staff from Oswego Hospital’s emergency room fitted more than 100 youths with free bike helmets.

Skate Bike Ride Winners Announced“This event has grown every year,” said Ellen Lafond, R.N. emergency department clinical manager. “And it is a great opportunity to promote safety and healthy lifestyles for kids.”

Those who attended Skate Bike Ride could enter into several drawings after they collected bracelets from five stations that each promoted an aspect of a healthy lifestyle.

Prize winners in the photo include Tori Cappelletti, who won a 2007 $5 gold eagle coin donated by Bob Plenge; Christopher Murray, who won a full skateboard deck donated by The Red Planet Skate Park; and Zach Mills, who won an SE BMX bike donated by Ben Turner, of Murdock’s, who is also pictured.

Not pictured is Justin Zukobski, who won an ipod donated by Leadership Oswego County’s class of 2008, which took part in the event.
