FULTON, NY – Snow or no snow, the date’s almost here for CNY Arts Center’s third annual Snow Day.

Set for Saturday (Jan. 18), this year the fun will take place downtown at the Community Room in City Hall and across the street at Veterans’ Park.

“We decided to move it downtown where we also have space for outdoor fun,” said Nancy Fox, director.

She added that the new location would allow outdoor snow activities including a snow sculpture contest, snow painting and snow themed games, “if we get enough of the ‘white stuff’.”

As the art center works to secure its proposed new location at former Rite Aid pharmacy located at 503 S. Second St., previous years saw the annual winter festivities at the current State Street location and the first year’s fun was hosted by the Fulton Alliance Church.

If it is successful in raising enough money, the new center would be large enough to accommodate a 150-seat theatre, 1,250 square foot art gallery, classrooms, coffee bar, dance studio, movie screen, conference room, graphics lab and more.

In addition to snow fun, Saturday’s plans include snow themed games, a children’s carnival, art projects, entertainment and food.

Some of previous year’s popular games will be played again this year including ice fishing, pong toss, and the snowman bean bag toss.

Children will also have fun building marshmallow snowmen, making beaded snowflakes, designing their own snowflake and other activities.

The CNY Arts Center Snow Day promises to be as much fun indoors as outdoors.

Hearty snow lovers can register at the park for the snow sculpture contest by 11 a.m. and create any snow sculpture, creature or snowman.

Some accessories will be available or bring your own.

At 1 p.m., judges will award first, second and third place winners who will have their picture taken with Frosty the Snowman.

Concessions will offer up hot dogs, nachos and cheese, soup, chili, popcorn, cotton candy, donuts and plenty of hot chocolate.

Carnival tickets are available at the door for a nominal fee and special coupons are available at the gallery for free game tickets.
