Sorbello Onion Barn Destroyed by Fire

GRANBY, NY – Firefighters from across the county responded to a barn fire at the Sorbello and Sons Farm Tuesday afternoon. Morris Sorebello is the county legislator for District 23.

According to the Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s Office, 35 fire departments and about 125 firefighters were battling the blaze at 628 County Route 8 in Granby.

The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m.

There were no reports of any injuries and no one was said to be inside the barn at the time.

Crews remained at the scene after the fire was knocked down to put out some hot spots.

The barn, filled with onion processing equipment and around 5,000 crates of onions, was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
