The Oswego JV Girls Lacrosse team recorded its ninth win of the season on Friday afternoon as they downed Auburn 15-5. Oswego jumped out to an early 2-0 lead only to have the visitors cut that lead in half with about 5 minutes gone in the game. The Buc defense then took over and allowed only 2 goals the remainder of the half as the offense deposited another 7 into the Maroon’s goal to build a 9-3 halftime advantage. I thought we did a nice job of stopping their offense in the first half. We have been working on helping each other to stop players from driving at our goal. That work paid off today as that seemed to be Auburn’s game plan.
In the second half the Buc’s put the game out of reach early as they scored they pushed their lead from seven to ten goals in the first 7 minutes of the half. At the same time the defense continued to work well together and allowed Auburn limited chances as the Maroon’s managed to get just two markers past Buc goalie Hayley Lukaczyk (13 saves) in the second half. This was total team effort for us today as we moved the ball well on the offensive end and limited Auburn’s ability to drive at our goal on the defensive end.
Scoring for the Bucs were:
Sam McCarrick – 7 goals, 3 assists
Taylor Giglio – 3 goals, 2 assists
Tessa Opet – 2 goals, 3 assists
Makayla Place – 2 goals, 2 assists
Kristin Knight – 1 goal, 1 assist
Danielle Posillipo – 1 assist
Rebecca Martin – 1 assist
Kat McNulty – 1 assist
Record: Oswego 9-5
