Oswego, NY – The Tri-Oswego 2012 Triathlon committee and Novelis Oswego Works are asking the community to participate in an aluminum can recycling drive at the Tri-Oswego Triathlon and Novelis Kids’ Fun Run, planned for this Saturday, June 16th in Oswego, New York.
Novelis, the presenting sponsor of the Tri-Oswego event, and the world leader in rolled aluminum products and aluminum can recycling, is requesting that participants who will be attending this weekend’s Tri-Oswego, bring 25 aluminum cans to Breitbeck Park. Individuals who bring in the minimum of 25 cans will in turn be entered into a raffle for a new bicycle.
“What a great opportunity for our community to support the Tri-Oswego event, while doing their part to recycle,” said Tri-Oswego Race Director Shane Broadwell. “Our sustainability program is a major component of the Tri, and we are proud to have Novelis leading the way on this initiative.”
According to Broadwell, the aluminum cans should be brought to Breitbeck Park prior to the Novelis Kids’ Fun Run, which is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday. The race is free of charge, and the can recycling is not a requirement to participate in the event. Families interested in registering their child for the fun run should visit http://www.tri-oswego.com/noveliskidsfunrun.html.
In addition to the triathlon and Kids’ Fun Run, a variety of other activities are planned for this year’s event including the Oswego Health and Wellness Expo, Youth Bicycle Rodeo, Zumba and Yoga for kids, Inflatable Bounce Houses, US Army displays, music, and more.
